Basis
The difference between spot and futures price.
A positive basis means futures trade above spot, usually reflecting demand for leveraged long exposure or carry trades.
A collapsing basis can indicate stress, reduced risk appetite, or aggressive unwinds in derivatives markets.
Basis is most informative when compared across maturities and read alongside funding, open interest, and spot participation.
